Retreat Behavioral Health is joining forces with Horses Healing Hearts to support at-risk children whose parents have suffered with addiction

The organizations will partner on an educational event featuring equine-assisted therapy on May 7th, and will raise funds for Horses Healings Hearts’ Children’s Prevention Program

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

(Palm Beach County, FL) — Get ready for the mane event.

Retreat Behavioral Health — a leading provider of substance abuse and mental health treatment services — is partnering with Horses Healing Hearts, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit based in South Florida that aids children whose loved ones have suffered from addiction.

Together, on May 7th, from 10am-1pm, they will host a dynamic, educational event to introduce local members of the community to the many benefits of equine-assisted psychotherapy at horse stables in Delray Beach.

In the run-up to the event, the organizations are actively raising funds to support the Children’s Prevention Program, a special initiative that Horses Healing Hearts has created to care for at-risk youth whose parents have suffered with substance use disorder. Through weekly, interactive sessions, the program equips these children — the parents of many of whom have passed away as a result of substance misuse or suicide — with the tools they need to overcome the generational cycle of addiction, and to begin to heal after surviving debilitating childhood trauma.

You can show your support for this important cause by donating at our official fundraising page. The fundraisers have declared an objective of raising $10,000 by May 7th. One hundred percent of the proceeds will go to the Children’s Prevention Program, to make it possible for children from low families to receive the vital attention they need.

What is equine-assisted therapy?

Equine-assisted therapy is an immersive way to help participants get in touch with their emotions, confront entrenched trauma, and begin the recovery journey. It involves working with, and caring for, horses, who are highly attuned with patients’ mental states and can start the process of fostering trust and mutual dependence.

Thank to Horses Healing Hearts, Retreat at Palm Beach County, FL, has operated weekly equine therapy for our patients for the past two years. For its part, equine therapy has been a key element of clinical programming at Retreat at Lancaster County, PA, for the past seven years. The site even has two of its horses, affectionately called Mickey and Mantle, which are utilized in the program.

An immersive experience

At the upcoming event on May 7th, community members and local professionals will have an opportunity to directly partake in equine-assisted psychotherapy, while learning about how it works from Horses Healing Hearts’ expert instructors. Guests will also hear directly from Retreat’s CEO and Founder, Peter Schorr, and Horses Healing Hearts Executive Director Liz Olszewski.

“We’re proud to partner with Horses Healing Hearts on this event,” Schorr said in a statement. “They’ve been a phenomenal asset to our patients and the local community, and we hope this event will give people insight into exactly what makes equine therapy so advantageous.”

Retreat Premier Addiction Treatment Centers Transitions to Retreat Behavioral Health, with Expanded Mental Health Services

Retreat Premier Addiction Treatment Centers, the highly-respected industry leader in substance abuse treatment, today announced a corporate transition to Retreat Behavioral Health, a comprehensive provider of substance abuse and mental health treatment services.

Under the auspices of Retreat Behavioral Health, the organization will continue to spearhead its standard-setting substance abuse services, while adding on new services dedicated to mental healthcare and co-occurring disorders.

At the inpatient level, Retreat has been granted a license at its Lancaster County, PA, residential site to treat patients with a dual diagnosis — that is, a drug/alcohol problem and a specific mental health condition. These conditions include disorders such as anxiety, depression, personality disorders, and PTSD, among others.

At the outpatient level, Retreat will continue to operate its successful after-care programming for graduates of our inpatient program, but offer new specialties in providing psychotherapy and medical diagnoses for ordinary patients struggling with a mental health condition independent of substance misuse altogether.

This transition reflects Retreat’s goal of serving our patients on diverse levels, assuming the role of a valuable and flexible contributor to the well-being of the communities we serve.

“Our expansion into the mental health space has grown naturally out of what we do as a substance abuse treatment provider,” said Peter Schorr, President & CEO of Retreat Behavioral Health, who founded the organization in 2011. “Many of our patients battle entrenched mental health disorders, too, which are often at the heart of their addiction. It’s important to treat both simultaneously, to give them the best chance of maintaining long-term recovery.”

“We’re confident that our expansion will bolster our existing services and underscore Retreat’s ultimate goal: To be a provider of the highest-quality care for our patients and their loved ones,” Schorr concluded.

Retreat Premier Addiction Treatment Centers Partners with eHome Aftercare to Offer Exclusive Innovative Family and Outpatient Program

Palm Springs, Fla., September 14, 2017–As part of its ongoing vision to providing the greatest probability of long-term sobriety for patients, Retreat Premier Addiction Treatment Centers has partnered with eHome Aftercare to offer a broader range of outpatient counseling and education services, making Retreat one of the first treatment centers to offer these family and outpatient program services online, in a safe, secured environment.

By offering eHome Aftercare services as an optional program to Retreat patients and their families, Retreat enhances the opportunity for more family members and critical familial alliances such as clergy, physicians, or school psychologists, the ability to be intimately involved from the beginning of their loved one͛s entry into treatment, throughout their progression, and especially in their aftercare.

͞Retreat continues to offer premiere innovative programs to treat those suffering from the disease of addiction, as well as their family,͟ said Founder and CEO Peter Schorr, Retreat Premier Addiction Treatment Centers. ͞Combining our high-end, compassionate inpatient treatment with state-of-the-art family and outpatient counseling ensures afforded through eHome Aftercare, we remain in the forefront of effective, holistic addiction treatment programs.͟

Through the Retreat partnership with eHome Aftercare, once a patient enters Retreat for inpatient program, his/her family—a support network of family and friends— has the option to enroll for this add-on program for counseling twice a week and access to SOBER101® Resource Library, which offers video lessons and a library of informational materials. After the patient completes his/her inpatient program, the patient and family is able to continue with counseling once a week and SOBER101® access. Patient progress and counselor effectiveness will also becontinuously assessed and measured.

͞The bond between patients and therapists is a strong determinant of positive outcomes. eHome Aftercare counselors have a 91% satisfaction rate, and are key to our selection of this program. In addition, September is National Recovery Month, and we are thrilled to begin providing eHome Aftercare to coincide with such an important time of the year,͟ said Schorr.͞ eHome Aftercare helps Retreat expand the options from our already extremely successfulfamily education program, and quite frankly, I͛ve never seen anything so quantifiable in our profession. I believe it is going to change lives and revolutionize our industry, particularly because we can now engage family from anywhere in the country into the treatment process from Day 1,͟ said Chief Business Officer Deja Gilbert, PhD, LMHC, LPC, of Retreat Premier Addiction Treatment Centers.

For about the price of a typical therapy session, eHome Aftercare offers the necessary familial engagement many family members desire, but until this service was created, often, due to geographic proximities and/or limited travel options, some families were unable to participate in this vital patient experience of family engagement.

The concept behind eHome Aftercare consists of counseling by video and text at any time or place, so family members can meet from separate geographic locations if needed. Statistics say that 69% of people expressed a preference of videoconferencing over traditional onsite family visits. During these counseling sessions, anonymity is maintained and the patient and family do not need to miss work or school. This makes the program ideal for students, traveling professionals and those in rural areas. ͞

The powerful combination of Retreat͛s outstanding addiction treatment center and our family and aftercare counseling provides the highest probability of success in breaking the addiction cycle and allowing people to ͚Live Again͛!͟ said Brad Rex, President and CEO, eHome Aftercare.

Retreat Premier Addiction Treatment Centers to Address Opioid Crisis

Deja Gilbert, PhD, LMHC, LPC will discuss the economic effects of opioids at Economic Forum.

Palm Springs, Fla., June 6, 2017 – Retreat Premier Addiction Treatment Centers has announced that Deja Gilbert, PhD, LMHC, LPC, Chief Business Officer at Retreat, will speak at the Economics of Addiction, the next Economic Luncheon for the Central Palm Beach County Chamber of Commerce. The luncheon takes place on Thursday, June 8 at 11am at Breakers West Country Club.

Gilbert will speak on the positive effects getting substance abusers into recovery can have on a local economy. The keynote speaker at the event will be State Attorney Dave Aronberg, and the Chamber’s Medical Board of Governors will be in attendance.

͞Palm Beach County in particular saw a sharp rise in opioid overdoses and deaths this part year, and a resulting rise in criminal, government and healthcare costs,͟ said Gilbert. ͞This forum, along with other initiatives, will make local business leaders more aware of the far-reaching effects substance abuse has on our community and economy.͟

According to a Palm Beach Post analysis of records from the Palm Beach County Medical Examiner’s Office, close to 600 people died of opioid-related overdoses alone in 2016 in Palm Beach County.

͞It’s so important for local businesses and community leaders to hear these numbers, along with the resulting costs that affect everyone from our healthcare professionals to taxpayers. The immense costs of substance abuse have a direct effect on our local economy,͟ said Gilbert.
